Blick in die Dauerausstellung: Sowjetische Kriegsgefangene

The permanent exhibition documents the criminal German warfare and occupation as well as Soviet society during the war.

It shows the war from the perspective of both the German and the Soviet actors. In addition to texts, historical photos, everyday objects and written documents, the exhibition presents people who became victims or perpetrators.

Open Air Exhibition at Tempelhof Airport

2023/24 marks the 75th anniversary of the “Airlift”, an event closely linked to Berlin’s history. To mark the occasion, three contemporary history museums in Berlin (Museum of Military History of the Bundeswehr at the Berlin-Gatow Airfield, the Allied Museum Berlin and the Museum Berlin-Karlshorst) have jointly developed an open-air exhibition to be shown at Tempelhof Airport.

Vortrag und Diskussion

mit PD Dr. Kai Struve (Universität Halle-Wittenberg) und Liana Blikharska (Gedenkmuseum für totalitäre Regime „Territorium des Terrors“, Lwiw)

Für Lwiw und die Westukraine bedeutete der Wechsel von der deutschen zur sowjetischen Herrschaft im Jahr 1944 kein Ende von Krieg und Gewalt. Der Vortrag wird die verschiedenen Gewaltkontexte und ihre Vorgeschichte skizzieren und dabei auch der Frage nachgehen, welche Bedeutung den damit verbundenen historischen Erfahrungen bis in die Gegenwart zukommt.

Der Eintritt ist frei.

The World War II in Europe ended in the building of the Museum Berlin-Karlshorst on the night of 8 to 9 May 1945. 2024 marks the 79th anniversary of this historic event.

The museum organises a special programme every year on 8 May. You are invited to a reading café with historical newspapers and a special film screening. There will be guided tours and much more. The day ends with an evening lecture on the topic No end to the war in Ukraine? Experiences from wars of the past.
