From Teacher to Coach

International history teachers were trained in the project to be able to offer in-service training to other teachers. As a further result, a guide for teachers (IN GERMAN) on the four modules of the training was produced.

In the guide, the authors use the topic of Soviet prisoners of war during the Second World War as an example to show ways of didactic and methodological discussion in the classroom. The didactic principles of multiperspectivity, controversiality and pluralism were the guiding principles (Module 1). The guide presents approaches for analysing different sources (normative legal acts, photos and memoirs) (Module 2). It also outlines interactive or participatory methods to implement the topic in class (Module 3). Finally, he presents online tools for teaching the topic in class (Module 4).

The project From Teacher to Coach was implemented from 2021-2023 in cooperation with the Kontakty – Kontakte e. V. association. The project was funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
