The Second World War did not begin and end at the same time or in the same way everywhere. This event takes a global look at the chronology, dynamics and consequences of the war, in particular the role of the Soviet Union, China and Japan.
A central focus is on the complex developments in Asia and Eastern Europe, which have so far received little attention in Western discourses. In addition, common narratives about the post-war period will be questioned: How were victors and vanquished defined? What impact has this had on the geopolitical order to this day? The event will present the latest findings on this historical period and invite critical reflection on global cultures of remembrance.
Free entrance.
